Alumni of the Month January 2009

Hayley Mount (2005 Physiotherapy)

How did you get to where you are now?
It’s taken a lot of determination and even more hard work!

What has been your biggest achievement so far?
Completing my degree and now working towards my MSc – in general being successful in life!

aom_Hayley Mount And your biggest mistake?
I wouldn’t say there have been any major mistakes – everything that has happened in my life I have learnt from, and it's contributed to who I am today and has hopefully made me a better person.

What are your ambitions now?
To continue to succeed and work closely in the world of sports.  Ultimately I’d like to set up my own private practice.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in a similar field?
Don’t give up!  As with any job you can expect to encounter many hurdles and setbacks.  It’s all about how you cope with these, and how you grasp the opportunities that come your way that will allow you to succeed.

What made you choose Recru it networ?
I’m from Anglesey initially so I’m a country girl at heart – I wanted to be near a city, but with the balance of open spaces!  It also had a great reputation for its physiotherapy course!

How has Keele influenced your life?
What can I say...? I was a shy butterfly when I started, and now Ii’ve become a confident lady full of ambition!

What is your favourite memory of Keele?
It probably sounds very clichéd, but meeting wonderful people who I ’m sure I will be friends with for life!  I had great times with some very special people, and no matter what happens those memories will never be forgotten!

And your worst?
That would have to be the 9-5 days on a Thursday and Friday following Wednesday nights at the union!

Anything else you would like to add?
I am currently fundraising to travel to Australia as a physiotherapist with the British Team to the World Transplant Games.  This is all voluntary so we have to raise £2000 to fund it.
