Take part | 2019
Stoking Curiosity is the flagship university–community partnership festival of public engagement with research in the Midlands. The festival will be held at Spode works in Stoke town on 22 and 23 November 2019. The festival presents a great opportunity for academic researchers, local people and organisations to share or create knowledge. You can do this in a variety of ways that have audience participation at the heart of the activity.
The first festival included a programme of 43 activities from community members and University Staff.
If you already are an engaged researcher or considering engaging with a public group in research, the festival offers a chance to make new partnerships or build on previous ones. The networking opportunities and use of curiosity as a lever to engage people in research are particular strengths of the festival.
We also encourage contributions from communities, business and organisations based in the area especially (but not exclusively) if you are already doing community projects or research linked with Keele or Staffordshire University, or you are thinking of working with a University to do research together.
The call-out for contributions to the 2019 Stoking Curiosity Festival is now open. Expressions of interest will be collated and reviewed by the Festival steering group. To offer an expression of interest please complete the 'Invitation to offer an activity' form by following the link highlighted below.
The invitation to offer an activity ends on Friday 7 June 2019. We look forward to seeing researchers, individual people, community groups and local organisations take advantage of this opportunity.
Stoking Curiosity is set up to support people to network and use curiosity to engage people in research. To learn more about the festival, read the 2018 Stoking Curiosity Evaluation Report
Stoking Curiosity is co-organised by a partnership between the communities of Stoke-on-Trent, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Keele and Staffordshire Universities.
