A new function is available within Symplectic called 'Altmetric', which tracks online conversations about research, by allowing researchers to monitor the 'buzz' publications are receiving from mainstream news, policy documents to Twitter and other social media.  The Altmetric 'doughnut' is already available to Keele researchers in Symplectic, the higher the score the better.  A high scoring altmetric could help inform future impact case studies; the altmetric helps collect the supporting 'evidence' of impact, as well as showing wider impact and reach of specific research papers.
